The Salem High School Career & Technical Education Department is a Massachusetts Chapter 74 Certified Department. Four-year students acquire entry-level skills preparing them to enter the labor market or enabling them to receive post-secondary college credit in their career & technical education area. Completers receive 1000 hours of training and a Massachusetts Career & Technical Education Certificate in addition to their high school diploma. This certificate enables a student to receive career & technical education credit toward an apprenticeship or advanced standing in the military.

An Exploratory Program is offered to all first-year students, which allows them to delve into each of the career & technical education programs before making their final selection. Students that complete their career & technical education program in good standing will receive career counseling and assistance with job placement.
