Salem High School 2026 Career Fair

Fifth Annual Career Fair invites small and large businesses, municipalities, military wings to offer SHS students internships, co-ops

SALEM (Feb. 27, 2026) – The Salem High School Career Technical Education (CTE) Department will host the ‘Passport to Possibilities’ 2026 Career Fair Thursday, Apr. 16, from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the SHS Veterans Memorial Field House.

The Career Fair is expected to feature between 40-50 partner companies and representatives from Salem, the North Shore and Greater Boston seeking conversations with Salem Prep, New Liberty Innovation School and SHS students regarding careers, internships, co-ops and other possibilities.

“We are calling on local businesses, industry leaders, and community partners to join us in shaping the future workforce by engaging with our students through this dynamic and meaningful opportunity,” said Mario Sousa, CTE Director and Co-op Coordinator. “We’re looking for business partners to showcase their industry, recruit future interns or employees, or simply support career readiness. Their participation will make a lasting impact on our students.”

Consistent with its theme, this year’s Fair will be designed as an international travel exposition with each booth emulating a ‘destination,’ representing a career field, industry, or employer. Students will ‘travel’ from booth to booth – with the purpose to engage in meaningful conversations – and collect passport stamps.

Students who collect nine or more passport stamps will be entered into a raffle. This interactive format keeps students engaged and facilitates meaningful interactions at every stop.

Last year’s list of partner companies which attended is available on the CTE website page, ranging from small, local and large businesses, the U.S. military, automotive groups and several City of Salem municipalities.

The Career Fair supports the District’s 2023-26 Strategic Plan, particularly the core value of elevating learning and providing students opportunities outside the classroom. SHS and Salem Public Schools are committed to the ‘Diploma Plus’ concept: providing students and graduates educational opportunities leading to advantages for their post-graduation years, whether they involve attending college or joining the workforce.
