Salem High School Community Office Reopening
Hello Salem High School students and families,
This message is to let you know that the Salem High School Community Office will be reopening to serve our students beginning tomorrow, October 19th.
The Salem High School Community Office is located in the auditorium of the Saltonstall School at 211 Lafayette Street in Salem. We are open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 8pm to provide in-person academic support for all students. No appointment is necessary, any student can drop in and stay for as long as they wish to receive in-person support from Salem High School teachers. The Community Office is staffed with teachers from the core academic subjects, along with staff to support students with Special Education needs and English Language Learners.
At the Community Office, we are committed to making sure that our students are supported so that they can finish the first term strong. We can also provide support for students who are behind in credits due to previous course failures by enrolling and supporting them in Gradpoint online courses, so that students can potentially catch up on missed credits.
The Community Office will provide a meal for students and has childcare staff, so that any student who is a care giver for a younger child can access our services. In addition, we have partnered with the Boys and Club of Salem, who will be hosting basketball and other athletic activities on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Please contact Assistant Principal Shamus Mruk if you have any questions at smruk@salemk12.org or (978) 888-7634.
If you need to speak with someone in Spanish, please contact Rosa Saldivar, our Community Office Facilitator at rsaldivar@salemk12.org or (978) 304-6130.
Thank you and we hope to see your students at the Community Office.
Shamus Mruk
Assistant Principal for the 9th and 10th Grades and the Newcomer Program
